Swara Sonora is in Indonesia on our Peace Tour

On July 28, the Swara Sonora Trio will depart for 3 weeks traveling in Java and Bali, Indonesia. The goal of the tour is to foster collaboration and understanding between the United States and Indonesia, using the powerful language of music as our common ground.

The trio will perform in 4 cities, bringing our commissioned work, Love and Variations, to Indonesia, and also presenting modern American works and standard repertoire from around the world.

In addition to our concert performances, we will work with young musicians in master classes at local conservatories and do outreach activities in the communities there.

The tour is also a fundraiser, as perfomance proceeds will be donated to support the Children of Indonesia’s rights advocacy through the programs implemented there.

Swara Sonora will donate Peace Tour performances’ proceeds to help fund UNICEF-supported immunisation programmes which are currently at a critical phase. About half-a-million children in Indonesia receive no immunisation by their first birthday while another 2.4 million children are only partially immunised, a recent government survey demonstrated. It is estimated that one Indonesian child dies every 3 minutes and 460 infants die everyday, some from vaccine preventable diseases.

If you are interested in helping to make this exciting project possible, please become one of our sponsors by making a tax-deductible donation to the Swara Sonora Trio. You can even make a donation by credit card online through our fiscal sponsor, Fractured Atlas.
